FAQ

Running a Pool

Do I need to download any software to start using your site?

No. Unlike some pool management software, starting a pool with WinMyPool.com does not require any software download. Your pool is managed completely online, allowing you to manage your pool from any computer with internet access. Simply register or sign in and complete the Start Pool form. You will have your pool up and running in minutes.

How do I start a new pool?

Starting a new pool is fast and simple. Register or sign in to your account, then go to the ‘Start Pool’ page and complete the form. Once a pool is created you can set up the pool settings in the Pool Settings menu section in the sidebar.

How do people join my pool?

All pools at WinMyPool.com are private. Therefore, the pool administrator must inform friends, family, and co-workers that your pool has been setup and how to join it.

Users can join a pool in 2 ways: either open a ‘Join Pool’ link that they receive from the pool manager or fill in the pool ID and password at the ‘Join Pool’ page.

As a pool admin you can find the link and password at the Pool Invitation page of the Pool Settings side menu section.

How many people can join my pool?

There is no limit to the number of people who can join your pool.

What is the best way to invite people into my pool?

To invite new users to a pool, you should send them the ‘Pool Invitation’ link that can be found at the ‘Pool Invitation’ page of the Pool Settings side menu section. Then they'll have to register and/or login to their account and finish joining the pool by opening the link.

Alternatively, you can let new users know the pool ID and password. This information can be found at the ‘Pool Invitation’ page of the Pool Settings side menu section. Users should then go to the ‘Join Pool’ page and input your pool ID and password on it.

The people I invited are attempting to join and are receiving a message that “You are not allowed to join this pool because it has already started.”

To prevent members from getting privileges of late registration we are not letting them join the pool after it has started. The pool start date and time is the first week’s deadline.

When the user joins the pool successfully, they will see a “Congratulations, you’ve just joined the pool.” message.

When do your NFL Survivor pools end?

Our Survivor pools are run through the regular season. The pool admin can select the start week and end week of the pool. This way you can run the pool through any portion of the regular season.

How does deactivating a pool member work?

Deactivating a member means that the member can’t access pool pages.

What is the deadline for pool members to enter picks each week?

Deadlines are adjustable by the pool admin. The deadline can be the ‘First Game Time Each Week’ or ‘Specified Day and Time’. In any case the users can’t pick teams that have already started to play this week.

How can I change my ‘team’ name that appears in the reports?

Team name is also called screen name. It can be changed at your Account Information page from user top menu.

Do I need to update game results for standings and other reports to be updated?

No. We take care of all the site updating for you. Unlike other pool management software, our pools don’t require you to enter results, generate reports, and then upload them to our website.

My pool users like to see who everyone has picked going into the weekend. Do you have a report that does this?

Prior to the weekly pick deadline, member’s picks that have already been entered are indicated by the generic text “Pick In” at the ‘Poolwide Picks’ page. When the deadline passes the picks will be revealed.

When are the standings (and other reports) updated?

Most updates will occur within minutes of the conclusion of a game, however, we make no guarantee about the exact time an update will take place.

What if my Survivor pick ends in a tie? Do I get a win or a loss?

Our program counts a tie as a loss in Survivor pools.

To retrieve your password, go to the ‘Forgot Password’ page, provide us with your e-mail address, and we’ll send you an email with instructions for changing your password.

How do I change my username, email address, and/or password?

You can change all of your personal information from the ‘Account Information’ page. Usernames and email addresses must be unique to the site.

I know my username and password, but I still can’t log in.

If your username and password are correct and you still can’t log in, it is probably because your browser is not set to accept cookies. Cookies are harmless, and are necessary for you to use the site. Set your browser to accept cookies, and you’ll be able to log in.

What should I do if I want more than one account under the same email address?

Simply create aliases at the ‘Create New Aliases’ page. Aliases are designed to let you create as many accounts as you want, all under the same email address and password. This feature allows you to enter more than one set of picks for yourself, or it can be used to enter picks for someone else.

You can also manage existing aliases at the ‘Manage Aliases’ page.

Do I need cookies enabled in my browser to use your site?

Yes. We use cookies ONLY for security and authentication purposes. Please see our ‘Privacy Policy’ for more information on how we use cookies.

Pick Deadlines

What is the picks deadline?

The picks deadline is the day and time by which all pool members must finalize their picks for the week. This deadline is set by the pool manager. The pool manager can change the picks deadline at anytime.

How do I set the picks deadline for my pool?

Only the pool manager can set the pick deadline for their pool. The pool manager can set the pick deadline to whatever time he/she wants using the Pool Settings → Pick Deadline page. The default pick deadline for NFL survivor pools is Sunday at 1PM Eastern Standard Time. The site is set up so that you can leave the deadline set for Sunday all season long. Even when there is a Thursday game, you can leave the deadline set for Sunday because of our built-in safeguards which prevent people from entering or changing picks for games that have already started. Once a game starts, all picks for that game are locked.

Some managers like to set their pick deadline for Friday so everyone can print out the poolwide picks at work and then take the picksheets home knowing that all the picks are locked.

When there is an early game (e.g. Thursday), can I enter a pick for the early game only and then come back later to do my Sunday picks?

Yes and No. You have to complete the full picksheet before you can submit it. Otherwise, you'll get a picksheet error. You can, however, return later to the picksheet to change your Sunday picks.

The season starts with a Thursday game, as pool manager do I need to change my pick deadline for Thursday?

You can change the deadline but it is not necessary. The pick deadline for the Thursday game is always kickoff time regardless of the overall picks deadline for your pool. If you haven’t selected a pick for the Thursday game by kickoff time you will not be able to make a pick for that game.

What happens if the Thursday game starts before I enter my picks?

If you miss picking a Thursday game, you get a “no pick” for that game, which is neither a win nor a loss. You can still enter your picks for the Sunday games, provided it is before your deadline. If your pool uses Autopicks, the computer will pick for you when you forget. If you don’t use the Autopicker, you’ll get a “no pick” for every game that you don’t enter picks for.

Can I change my picks?

Yes, you can change your picks as often as you like, but only until the picks deadline. After the picks deadline, no picks can be made or changed. You can never change a pick for a game that has already started.

What do I do if I miss the picks deadline?

If you have made use of the Autopicks feature, the website will make your picks for you. Check with your pool manager to see if Autopicks is enabled for your pool.

Autopicks

What if someone forgets to enter picks?

WinMyPool.com has a feature called “Autopicks” that lets the system make automated picks for users who missed week’s deadline. The pool manager has the option of allowing or not allowing Autopicks.

Can I change picks made by the Autopicker?

No. The autopicker doesn’t run until after your picks deadline.

Can the Autopicker change the picks that I already entered?

Absolutely not. The Autopicker will never change your picks.

How do Autopicks work?

The Autopicker can pick Biggest or Smallest Available Home or Visitor Favorite or Underdog, based on point spreads, depending on the pool settings. It uses teams that you haven’t picked already and whose game has not yet been played. If according to the point spread, the biggest favorite of the week is playing in a Thursday game and your deadline is only on Sunday, the Autopicks will be given on Sunday, and you WON’T get Thursday night's favorite, you’ll get the biggest favorite of the remaining teams whose games have not yet started.

Point Spread Questions

How do points spreads work?

Points spreads on WinMyPool.com are always shown relative to the favorite. Thus spreads are always negative. Add the point spread to the favorite team’s final score to see who covered the spread.

Where can I see point spreads for current week?

We get our spreads from PinnacleSports.com and publish this week’s point spreads at ‘My Picks’ page. Once we publish the spreads we don’t change them even if they do on PinnacleSports.com. It is for this reason that we recommend not relying on autopicks and try making the picks yourself.

Do the point spreads change during the week?

For most pool formats the answer is No. Once we set a line it never changes. However, there are rare instances where we incorrectly type in the line. In those instances we will change the line.

Special Options and Pool Operation Questions

Can other people see my picks?

It depends. The picks are not seen until after the pick deadline. Once the deadline is reached the picks are revealed.

Can I change the name of my pool and keep everything else the same?

Yes. To change your pool name, go to Pool Settings → Basics.

Error Questions

The picks shown on the website are not the same picks I entered. I should have 3 more wins in the standings. Can you fix it for me?

Absolutely not. You are responsible for confirming that your own picks are accepted by the website. We never change anyone’s picks.

I entered my picks earlier in the week, but now it says that I didn't enter them. Can you enter my picks for me now?

Sorry, but we can’t. You are responsible for confirming that your picks are accepted by the website. We never change or enter anyone’s picks. The best way to confirm your picks is to return to the picksheet page and see that your picks are prefilled on the form. When you do this, DO NOT use the “Back” button on your browser. Instead, click on the ‘My Picks’ link. This will ensure that you are looking at a fresh page.

I have to log in again each time I click on a new link within the website. Can this be changed?

Yes. If you have to log in every time you click a new link in our website then your browser is probably not configured to accept cookies. You will need to change your browser security settings to allow cookies from our website.
